Terezin Concentration Camp Tour
The Terezin Concentration Camp Tour is a five-hour trip just north of Prague. The town was founded in 1780 by Emperor Josef II. Built as part of an ingenious system of Late Baroque military fortresses to protect the Kingdom of Bohemia. The small fortress was later converted into a prison at the beginning of the 19th century. During the period of Nazi occupation of World War II in 1940 the town of Terezin was turned into a Jewish ghetto by the Gestapo. The town and fortress Terezin were being used by the Gestapo as a transit camp for Jews and all others deemed enemies of the Third Reich from all over Europe.
It is said 160,000 prisoners passed through Terezin. Around 36,000 lost their lives within the walls of this former Nazi concentration camp. Since this tragic period in history the name Terezin has been forever etched into the world’s conscience. The tour is essential for visitors interested in the history of World War II and the Holocaust, entrance fees are all included as well as the Museum. The tour comes in a choice of standard languages which are English, German, Russian, French, Italian, Spanish and Czech. You should let us know which language you prefer when booking. Minimum group size – 2 people
Start time and length of tour – The Terezin Concentration Camp Tour is available daily from around 09.00am – 09.30am. It lasts 6 hours, including transportation. It is closed from 24th December to 26th December and on 1st January also.
Price per person – Adults 1490 CZK, children from 3 to 6 years old: 1390 CZK, students from 7 to 18 years old: 1450 CZK.
Transfers and guide included – Yes, we will pick you up at your accommodation and drop you back in the center of Prague after the end of the tour.
