The Prague Christmas markets are open normally from the end of November through to the first week of January. These are very popular with tourists and locals alike. It is well worth a visit to Prague during the Christmas and New Year period. There are various locations for these markets throughout the city, but one of the most popular locations is the Old Town Square.

Located at metro stop Staromestska on the green line metro. When you enter the Old Town Square you will see why it is the most popular. It is surrounded by architectural beauty, dominated by Tyn Church and the location of the famous Astronomical clock. On the 1st of December is the annual lighting of the Christmas tree and the square is alive with people shopping in the traditional markets, drinking hot wine and listening to live music on the stage erected especially for the Christmas festivities.
The nearest metro stop is Mustek which is on the green and yellow line junction. This is a small street joining the Old Town Square with Wenceslas Square. Even after Christmas these markets keep on trading all year round, selling all kinds of local traditional trinkets.
You can find these markets at the metro stop Mustek, green and yellow line junction. Or from the metro stop Museum which is green, red and yellow line main junction. The markets are located at the bottom of the Square which is also the main shopping area of the city. So as well as Christmas market shopping you can also shop in the wide range of top name stores in this location. Close to Christmas time you will see large water tanks on the street selling live carp fish. This is the traditional food served for the Christmas dinner on the 24th December in the evening.
Set up at the metro stop Namesti Republiky on the yellow line, these are a bit further from the centre. They are only a 5 minute walk from both Wenceslas Square and the Old Town Square. The markets are near the new Palladium shopping mall and the older established Kotva shopping mall.
These quaint little Christmas markets are at metro stop Namesti Miru, on the green line metro. They are in the Prague 2 area in front of the beautiful St Ludmila Church. This is a perfect setting and these are probably the next best to rival the Old Town Square. They are well worth a visit if you are in the area. The markets sell all the local products ideal for a nice gift at Christmas time. Also you will find hot rum and hot honey wines and beer and a full range of tasty Czech foods on offer.
Set close to the metro stop Vltavská, on the red line in the Prague 7 area, this is quite far from the center. A taxi or public transport would be recommended but be careful with taxis. These markets are also operating all year round with a strong Vietnamese influence there is probably the biggest selection of all goods from all the markets listed.
We hope you will enjoy with the help of our company your visit to the Prague Christmas markets and will remember it for a long time.
