This Kutna Hora tour is a 5 hour excursion including the baroque ossuary in nearby Sedlec. This is decorated with the bones of an estimated forty thousand people. Since 1995 the town has been registered on the UNESCO protected World Cultural and Natural Heritage list. The guided Kutna Hora tour will take in the most important buildings and places. Kutna Hora is situated approximately 65 km east of Prague. It was founded in the 13th century and due to its prosperous silver mining was the most important and richest town in Bohemia after Prague. Several Bohemian kings down the years made it their temporal residence. Also you visit the nearby village of Sedlec to visit one of the most interesting burial places in the world called Kostnice (Ossuary). The chapel at Sedlec is decorated with sculptures and displays made from over 40,000 human bones. Also it includes a macabre chandelier made from all the bones in the human skeleton. A huge crest of the noble Schwarzenberg Family displays crushed skulls, the results of previous medieval battles.
