PRAGUE NATIONAL MARIONETTE THEATRE

The theatre offers puppet opera for everyone including families, couples and groups, with more than 3000 Marionette Theatre performances since 1991. Prague National Marionette Theatre presents:

'Magic Flute' (German language)- A classical opera by W.A.Mozart in a new playful concept of figure and puppet theatre and in the original language, following the success of a marionette production of Don Giovanni. Its duration is 90 minutes. In this marionette version of Mozart's famous opera, the story is told with tall puppets dressed in authentic 18th century period costume. The whole production pays homage to the Mozart era and is a joy to experience. Is The Magic Flute a remarkable fairy-tale with comic elements, a folk comedy or an encoded work, full of freemasonry symbols? Is it merely a story of love overcoming all obstacles, or a motivational piece urging the audience to go out and achieve perfection? The Magic Flute contains all these elements. Mozart’s last opera, a fairy-tale sing spiel from 1791 to the libretto of E. Schikaneder, is a true masterpiece in the Prague National Marionette Theatre.

'Don Giovani' (Italian language)- Don Giovanni, exclusively for Prague he personally conducted the first performance in 1787 at the Stavovske Theatre. Using classical tall marionettes the National Marionette Theatre presents this brilliant opera in the unique version using the classical marionettes, the 2 hour opera is presented in the original Italian Librette, celebrating Mozart`s period in an 18th century spectacle.

Note: In the Prague National Marionette Theatre the stories are recounted visually, with little or no spoken words, this makes the shows ideal for an International audience, of both adults and children.
